... View the garden in the magical light of late afternoon with blooms and colors that are unique to the season. This popular event invites guests to enjoy the long days of summer. Non-members reserve a docent-guided tour while members and their guests have the option of exploring the garden on their own. Wine and light hors d’oeuvres are served from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM on the geranium terrace overlooking the main lawn.

... It was a gorgeous sunny day in the Santa Barbara Channel. There was a little residual bump from the West, but there was hardly any wind. Total species cited for the day included 2,500 long beak common dolphins, 5 blue whales, and 3 humpback whales. Sightings today were fantastic. We had bright blue sun, bright blue water and big blue whales.

... We’re in one of those windy and moderately choppy periods now, but Captain Eric and his team took it slow and easy. The wild beauty of the Santa Barbara Channel cannot be exaggerated. 1,500 long-beaked common dolphins and 2 humpback whales were closely watched. When the seas come up a bit, it’s great to see these animals in their natural environment.
Near the outer Santa Barbara harbor entrance buoy a group of several hundred dolphins were found feeding on a northern anchovy hotspot. Seabirds were diving, California sea lions were there, and the dolphins...
